Commitment to Community

The Lockport Quarry has been a fixture of the Niagara County community since 1942, supporting infrastructure, the local economy and good jobs.

Lockport Quarry: A Community Partner

Lockport's Community Values

The Lockport Quarry has been part of the Niagara County community for more than 70 years. As one of the largest employers in the town with 39 full time employees, 38 of whom call Niagara County home, the quarry is very much a community operation.

Independent and small businesses are at the heart of creating a strong, sustainable community. That is why we are proud that, in addition to our full-time staff, day-to-day operations require support from many local businesses, including local restaurants, gas stations, and equipment and material suppliers. Our operations generate about $6 million per year in revenue for locally sourced goods and services. And local trucking firms generate about $10 million in revenue per year hauling materials from the quarry.

In addition to our contributions to the economy, the Lockport Quarry provides locally-sourced material to support the region's infrastructure projects. The quarry produces approximately 1.5 million tons of aggregate every year and 300,000 tons of asphalt, to supply material for the construction of local roads, businesses, public works and homes.

In order to maintain and expand local infrastructure, Niagara County requires approximately 1.7 million tons of aggregate each year. Without material from the Lockport Quarry, building material would be trucked in from out-of-county producers driving up the cost of material and pushing jobs and tax dollars out of the county. The Lockport Quarry keeps costs low for local builders and positions Niagara County as an attractive location for businesses to relocate or expand.

We also look for ways to give back to the community. An example is the material we donated for the town's WWII memorial and the quarry's support for many non-profit organizations and community events. We currently sponsor the Niagara County Little League, the Lockport Summer Series as well as two local unions. Niagara County is home and our employees take great pride in helping grow our local economy and support our community.

Lafarge Teams up with 2 Pack a Backpack’s School Supply Drive

Before school begins each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo, Walmart and 2 On Your Side team up to make sure local children have the school supplies they need. In 2014, a number of Lafarge employees, including Perry Galdenzi, Western New York area manager, pitched in and donated backpacks and spent the day collecting school supplies.
