About the Quarry

Lafarge North America's Lockport Quarry has been an important part of Niagara County for more than 70 years, providing valuable material for our roads and infrastructure, revenues to our community and good jobs.

Since 1942 our quarry has provided Niagara County with a stable, affordable supply of local building material to support the community.

The quarry supplies crushed stone products, hot mix asphalt and aggregate for ready mix concrete used for local infrastructure projects, like roads and public works as well as commercial and residential construction. The quarry also produces agricultural lime to enhance soil on farms throughout western New York. While the quarry has seen several owners over its decades of operation, it has always been an important local employer and supplier of quality material to Lockport and the county.

Today, Niagara County requires 1.7 million tons of aggregate each year to maintain and expand infrastructure, including town and county roads. At the Lockport Quarry, we produce about 1.5 million tons of stone each year and 300,000 tons of hot mix asphalt. The quarry uses sustainable, industry-leading manufacturing practices to provide a stable supply of high-quality aggregate that supplies projects that across greater Western New York. For example, aggregate and asphalt from our quarry was used to pave the Niagara Falls Airport and new projects on Routes 31, 104 and 93. We are proud of our history supplying the community and supporting the local economy and we hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
